What Families Are Saying

Our boys have both had the good fortune to work with Mr. Will Hudson. Mr. Hudson was our younger son’s 6th grade teacher and he also participated in summer workshops with him. Our older son asked Mr. Hudson to be his faculty advisor for his 8th grade capstone project. Our two children could not be more different as individuals and both view Mr. Hudson as one of the best teachers they have encountered.
“Will has a remarkable understanding of youth and adolescent development and exceptional ability to adjust and tailor the way he connects with students based on their individual strengths, interests, and differences.”
His way of working with students is the definition of developmentally appropriate–based on a combination of knowledge of human development and knowledge of individuals and context. He is clear about holding high expectations and standards for working together that builds relationships and a sense of community.
He also infuses humor and joy into learning.
Mr. Hudson recognized that our older son needed support to map out his plan for his capstone project in a way that would help him maintain focus and view it as manageable. As a divergent thinker, ideas come easily for him while organizing ideas to actually execute them is challenging. His way of thinking was valued and the opportunities for growth identified within a clear plan that involved high expectations and high support.
“Will has a clarity of purpose in supporting anyone he works with in finding joy and satisfaction in learning and community. We cannot recommend him enough for anyone who is seeking coaching or learning support.“
Through his 6th grade year and during summer workshops with Mr. Hudson, our younger son thrived through having opportunities to work collaboratively with peers and further develop critical thinking skills and flexibility. His strength is organization and execution of plans, while being flexible and adjusting to new ideas or approaches to accomplishing goals are areas for growth. Mr. Hudson grouped students in ways that allowed his strengths to thrive and he could practice leadership skills, while also practicing flexibility and valuing different ways of thinking and doing demonstrated by peers.
We are confident that our boys are better for having worked with Will. They grew in terms of positive self concept and their ability to work collaboratively with peers and adults.
Our high school freshman has always loved learning but struggled with anxiety, autism, and ADHD, which made the new world of high school math and science especially challenging—particularly during tests. I felt that their grades never reflected what they truly understood. Working with Mr. Hudson has been a game-changer in this regard. He built an incredible rapport with our student, provided unwavering emotional support, and explained content in a way that finally clicked. After just a handful of sessions, our child’s math grade jumped from Ds to a high B! More importantly, their confidence has soared. Mr. Hudson is the whole package, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Mr Hudson has been an incredible support for my son. He built a strong, trusting relationship with him, always centering my son’s voice and agency while helping him grow academically and emotionally. He supported him in preparing for high school entrance exams, provided executive functioning support, and made learning both effective and fun. We have also deeply appreciated his clear and thoughtful communication with us as parents, which helps us understand his process and know how best to support our son at home. Most importantly, he consistently sees the best in my son and has helped him build confidence in himself and in taking on challenging tasks. I highly recommend his tutoring and mentoring.

“Our child now approaches goals with more excitement and less anxiety, and we have seen a huge shift in his independence and self-esteem.“
Working with Will has made an incredible difference for our child. He delivers critical insights, guidance and support, and has been an invaluable resource in helping our child navigate the difficult transition from high school to college. Will is intelligent, caring, and really understands how to get through to kids and maintain their interest. He especially understands how differently neurodivergent kids process information and structure. He has been a tremendous asset in our child’s development and has helped him focus on setting and achieving goals, both academic and social.

I’m not sure I can put into words the profound impact Will Hudson had on my son Noah’s life. He had Mr. Hudson as his 6th grade teacher and it was transformative. Noah was a cheerful and rambunctious boy, whose “spirited” personality and extreme abundance of energy often got him into trouble at school (and at home.) He struggled with self-control, spatial awareness, and reading social cues, among other things. As a child who loved everyone, and wore his heart on his sleeve, upsetting his peers and teachers was not his intention. It made him feel guilty, ashamed and less confident. Mr. Hudson was able to reach him in a way no other teacher had been able to. He has a way of finding a child’s strengths and building confidence through those strengths, while simultaneously working on the things that they need help with, in a way that is not punitive or demeaning. My son is almost 20 now, and will always say when asked, “Mr. Hudson was by far the best teacher I ever had. He made me want to be a better person.” Mr. Hudson was able to motivate and inspire him in a way that was incredibly impactful. And, he was fun! He introduced Noah to new genres of music, made learning fun, and the day-to-day magical. I would highly recommend Mr. Hudson to anyone looking for a mentor, academic advisor, advocate or teacher for their child.

We’ve had the privilege of working with Mr. Hudson as he mentored and taught our oldest son through middle-school. We strongly believe that Mr. Hudson has shaped, inspired and encouraged our kid to be the young man he is today.
Mr. Hudson’s incredible ability to build positive connections with his students created a supportive learning environment. This was especially true with our oldest kid who struggles with learning differences and confidence. Mr. Hudson quickly picked up on our son’s love of building and tinkering and found ways to create engaging lessons through hands-on experience.
Finally, he’s also done numerous woods exploration trips and stewardship workdays, which has prepared him for a future job. Our son is now a senior in high school and is an aspiring wildland firefighter. Our son cares for the environment and that’s thanks to the real world work that Mr. Hudson provided.

“Our son is currently deciding on what high school to attend. One of the prospective schools required him to write a short essay about someone who has been a positive influence.
Our son wrote about Will.”

You have played a big role in him developing into a kind young man who is proud of his skills and interests. I heard about you and your support of his love of the outdoors and working with tools and thinking about things in a certain way constantly over the past few years.
You have made all the difference to him and our little family. I cannot thank you enough for your time and kindness.
He is who he is in part because of you.

“Voicing my stance in an educated yet passionate manner has become a pivotal aspect of my career and began largely because of his dedication to valuing the voice of students.“
